Due to its ambiguous nature, culture is one of the most difficult human phenomenons to define. Sociologists and Linguists are continuously expanding the aspects of what constitutes culture in an effort to understand how our individual identities can coexist as simultaneous members of a global community. This paper analysed various theories and literature in relation to the concept of culture in an effort to determine the effect it has on English as a second language (ESL) students. It discovered that although spoken and written discourse is integral to succeeding in a community, there are several non-linguistic methods of communication that can help ESL students to participate and become accepted members of their chosen second language society. This paper also compared the differences between individual and collective cultures and the social and environmental impact they can have on its participants.

Translation of poetry has always been a difficult problem. Questions like what form to adopt, whether to retain the original structure, how to choose words, etc. have long confused numerous experts and translators. The text type theory proposed by German translation theorist Katrina Rice believes that poetry, a typical expressive type, should be translated as faithfully as possible to the original text, and this theory provides a theoretical basis for translators to choose a better translation strategy. This paper takes The Poems of Emily Dickinson translated by Zhou Jianxin as an example to analyze the application of text type theory in poetry translation. The translation has high faithfulness to the original text, including not only the form and the meaning of the poem, but also its aesthetic features and the personal style of the poet, which is a good sample of the application of text type theory. It provides a reference for subsequent translators to translate poetry, and also shows a practical path for translations of foreign poetry.

A Contrastive Analysis of Descartes’ Methodic Doubt and Husserl’s Transcendental Phenomenology
REV. FR. Joseph T. Ekong, O.P

This work is expository, analytic, critical and evaluative in its methodology. Admittedly, both thinkers were dualists. But, where Descartes turned out to be a dualist in the stronger sense, Husserl had brought the Ego closer to the objects it perceives, constituting them through intentionality. More specifically, through h the intertwinement between the intentional act and the intentional object. The goal of Descartes’ method was to arrive at an inconcussum quid, at something which cannot be subjected to doubt: his own existence as a thinking substance, in addition to the proof(s) of the existence of God. So, he methodically doubted all the things he had been certain about, in order to reaffirm their existence. Husserl’s method, on the other hand, employs what is sometimes seen as a twofold approach: phenomenological ἐποχή, (epoche) or “suspension of belief,” and phenomenological reduction. Husserl’s main philosophical problem had nothing to do with being certain about reality. He understood our certitude about reality as a basic fact of our everyday experience, as something to be taken at face value. Therefore, he did not need to doubt whether reality is as it seems to be, or even exists at all. Although there are many ways to explain Husserl’s main issue, but to take the epistemological route, the one he took in his first public communication on this topic, The idea of phenomenology, it pertains to the manner in which exterior objectivity, as something whose existence transcends the subject, can reach an immanent subject.

This study's main goal is to evaluate the Janata Awash Program's implementation status in Rupandehi, Nepal, where the program is dispersed among 13 VDCs and 4 Municipalities (before readjustment of local level). Interviews and a questionnaire survey were undertaken with applicants for the program, local leaders, officers in charge of implementation, and the monitoring body in the study region with regard to selected, non-selected, completed, and unstarted construction. In the fiscal year 2073–1974 there were 2214 applicants, which appears to be a relatively high amount. Since there are so many of them and they live in diverse places, it would be foolish to assume that one strategy will work for all low-income groups' housing needs.

When a kid's parents demand performance levels much beyond his or her mental, social, or emotional capacity, the result might be a syndrome known as "hurried child syndrome"—a collection of stress-related behaviors. In essence, parents overbook their kids' calendars, pressure them to do well in school, and demand that they behave and respond like small adults. Another factor is the state of trade at the moment. Nowadays, a lot of people that market to children are aware that their parents no longer control what kids consume for food, clothing, or entertainment. This reality is being exploited by the consumerist system, and it has an impact on kids. The hurried child syndrome is represented by the following statistics: Recent research on the effects of rushed kid syndrome shows that the suicide and homicide rates have tripled over the past 20 years, childhood obesity has grown by 50%, and 15–25% of young children are "failing" kindergarten. Millions of children receive medications in an effort to "manage" them better at home and in school. According to recent statistics, 40% of adolescent girls who engage in sexual activity will become pregnant by the time they reach maturity, and 70% of virgin girls will not be virgins. The leading cause of mortality for youths today is drug and alcohol abuse, but suicide rates are also rising. Five thousand youngsters commit suicide each year.

The concept of empowerment is broad and is frequently viewed as a way to give more power to the powerless in numerous aspects of life. However, the empowerment of patients seeking health care has received less attention. Consequently, this article aims to examine how the notion of empowerment is defined in the scientific literature pertaining to healthcare. This concept analysis was conducted utilizing the eight-step Walker and Avant approach (2014). The data resources used in the analysis were obtained from health-related literature retrieved from the CINAHL, PUBMED, and PsycINFO online databases. Four distinguishing characteristics, including Mutually beneficial connections, Knowledge and skills, Self-determination and shared decision making, and Sharing of social power, were retrieved from the analysis. This concept analysis demonstrated to both patients and medical practitioners the optimal method for initiating the therapeutic relationship. Empowerment can facilitate health professionals' practice and increase patients' and consumers' confidence and happiness with health services. Additional analysis can be conducted to get a fresh understanding of the concept, contributing to the body of health-related information.
